Cell
“The Cell” belongs to the horror genre and it is a triumphant return of Stephen King. The main character of the story is Clayton Riddell who is an artist. He has arrived to Boston to develop an idea for his comic book “Dark Wanderer”.
That day was successful and he went for souvenirs for his wife, Sharon, and son Johnny aged 12. He was eager to tell everything his wife but she was not available as she was working at school by teacher.
Clay was sitting in his hotel room but he did not want to and so he decided to have some ice cream. When he was standing in a queue he noticed teenager who were talking to some pal. And there was a woman who held her cell phone near the ear and at the same time she was controlling a little dog in her arms and making order. But then he noticed some unusual things.
In the park a man appeared who was biting off an ear of a dog. The woman with little dog on her arms began to attack the truck driver of the ice cream and one of teenagers began to attack the woman and the other teenager just could not understand what was happening.
There was a terrible noise in the street such as screams, cars crashing and people began to jump out of the buildings. Clay returned to the hotel with Tom who he came across on the way. The people around them were insane and uncontrolled, and attack any creature they see. Clay met a young girl, Alice, in the hotel and her mother wanted to kill her.
When he was in safe, he tried to understand these strange things. And he noticed one common feature: all that crazy people had a cell phone, and Clay did not. But who is also affected? Are these terrorists? It was not clear and difficult to find the answer.
Phones, TV and radio did not work. There was a catastrophe in the city. The police was busy and Clay decided to leave this city. He wanted to come back home to his wife and son. So the trio began to go to the north and find the answers.
The story “The Cell” is a real suspenseful novel. It is full of interesting characters and the reader will always be excited. Stephen King has described other Armageddon of the mankind. And he has used the most popular now thing – a cell phone. But the end of this book may disappoint you. It is open for a sequel. We hope that King will end this story and the readers will know about the result of this communication. But we believe that the world will not be without this useful means.
