Christine
Almost 20 years passed when King published the story Christine. And the author would approach again to the theme of possessed cars in the novel From a Buick 8. But the stories are not so simple and both have complicated storyline.
The main character of the story Christine is Arnie Cunningham. He is a teenager and belongs to the type of “nerd”. He is with glasses and has acne and has little in the way of social life.
But when Arnie meets Christine the life changes (1958 Plymouth Fury). The Fury is romanced by Arnie like a girl would be romanced by boy. The car becomes the most important thing in the life of Arnie. But Arnie notices that the school bullies do not pay attention to the car.
Well, the car is good looking because Arnie takes care about it. But once Arnie discovers the vandalized car, and Dennis who is the best friend of Arnie helps him to find out these vandals.
Dennis follows the brother of the former owner Roland D. LeBay and talks to him. He finds out the whole story of the car history. Dennis realizes that Roland is a cruel person and he makes a conclusion that the car is possessed by the demented personality of Roland.
The car itself becomes violent and destroys those who damaged the Fury, and it influences on the death of Leigh, Arnie’s girlfriend. And the wheels of Christine should stop this car.
Of course this novel is not the best one of King but it is amusing. The reader will easily understand that the other novels are better but this one will be amused and the end is interesting.
