Skeleton Crew
Skeleton Crew is the second collection of short stories which follows the publication of the first King´s collection Night Shift. Skeleton Crew contains the classic King´s short story The Mist which is turned to the theatrical audio book which is considered to be “3D sound”.
The Mist describes a group of people which is trying to avoid an incoming mist with something evil and strange in its make-up. This is the story that sets the tone for the whole collection Skeleton Crew and this reminds to the readers the classic stories of the original Twilight Zone television series.
One more story which is an inspiration for the early artwork that associated with Skeleton Crew is The Monkey. This is the story which describes those times which gave the shills and has a fictional reasoning behind the creeps. The main character is a monkey with cymbals toy and when the monkey clasps it together, somebody passes away. A reader can understand this story and there may appear more readers who will dislike the horror genre.
The collection includes the story The Jaunt which covers the idea of time traveling with some elements of the horror. The main events take place in the future when inter-planetary travel is real and the concept of time is solved. To travel in time and space, a traveler has to go through the tunnel which is called “jaunt”. The only condition for the traveler is that he/she should be unconscious during the trip. One family decides to trip to Mars using such jaunt and one of the member of the family realizes the truth of this jaunt.
This collection is a combination of science fiction and the horror genre. However it is King´s classic tales that stand twenty years after its publication. This is a must collection for fans of the author. For newbie reading this collection will understand the whole attractiveness of King´s works.
