The Dead Zone

The Dead ZoneSome novels and stories contain the combination of terrifying and heart-wrenching drama. The Dead Zone is one of such novels. It is an exciting novel and the Cronenberg film and USA television series were based on it.
The Dead Zone is a story about Johnny Smith who is a forgettable human under common situations. As many consider Johnny has a standard life. He is a teacher at the public school, has a beloved girlfriend who he just kisses and nothing more and a loving mother.
However his life turns for the worse. He has a near-fatal car accident and as a result Johnny is in coma. After five years staying in coma he wakes up in a new for him world which turned upside down.
Susan, his girlfriend, is married and has a child. And his mother joins the ranks of fundamentally religious, and the most important thing is that after coma his brain has a “dead zone”. Because of this zone Johnny has a blinding headaches and an ability to see the future.
When Johnny understands the true value of his new gift, he hates this accident that gave him this gift even when the others see in him a hero. Johnny does not want that powers use him and he resists it. Then Johnny understands, or feels, that his gift is useful for others and he is responsible for the world around him.
Soon Johnny meets a local politician Greg Stillson and when he shakes hand Johnny feels the evil inside this person. Johnny decides to change the course of the future. He intents on killing Greg but his “dead zone” turns into a brain tumor and Johnnie´s fate put before him the fatal crash.
The Dead Zone belongs to the most dramatic and realized work of Stephen King. Taking into account the classic Greek tragedy and modern superheroes the given hero, Johnny Smith, is an everyman who has a feeling of the world weight upon his shoulders. It is no doubt that the readers will sympathize and pity the main character of The Dead Zone who takes his final steps to the destiny.
