The Regulators

The Regulators1996 was a good year for Stephen King. He published two novels Desperation and The Regulators which was published under the name of Richard Bachman.
The story The Regulators starts with the American suburb in Wentworth, Ohio. But it is Stephen King and a reader understands that it will not be normal and quiet in the story for a long time. And then bang occurs. Deepening in the book the full picture opens for the readers. Such lovely picture when neighbors walk and children play on the background changes quickly and nobody has expected it including the characters of the story. Tak is a psychic vampire who eats minds of the preys and he takes the mind of Seth, an autistic boy.
Seth is fond of spaghetti westerns which he watches on TV. When Seth is caught by Tak, he is able to bring the characters of the westerns to life. But Tak is also able to control the characters and a disturbing massacre is in their wake.
The Regulators was criticized by the literary critics, however, there is something worth to be said. It is connected with the novel Desperation where the characters have different situations because of the desperation. But their actions are quiet different in comparison with The Regulators.
A lot of works which were written under the pseudonym Bachman are considered to be violent and The Regulators also belongs to them but there is more violence in this story. The Regulators is a new a horrific look into the darkness of the American suburbia which turns it upside down and this result is expected by the readers and by the real fans of the horror genre.
